Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an FAA MedXPress confirmation number for BasicMed?
No.MedXPress is strictly required for Class 1, Class 2, or Class 3 FAA Medical Certificates. BasicMed physicals rely exclusively on the paper FAA Form 8700-2.
Does the clinic mail my completed physical to the FAA?
No.Under FAA Part 68 rules, your completed CMEC form is not mailed to Oklahoma City. You retain the physical signed copy directly in your personal pilot logbook or digital files.
Can a Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant (PA) perform the exam?
No.While clinical staff may assist with vitals or initial testing, FAA regulations mandate that the final attestation and signature on Section 3 must be executed by a state-licensed Physician (MD or DO). All BasicMedsign-offs at our clinic are conducted directly by a licensed doctor.
How long is my BasicMed physical valid?
Your physical exam with our physician is valid for 48 calendar months.(Remember: You must also complete the free FAA/AOPA online aeromedical course every 24 calendar months).
